Amazon has signed a lease on a 360,000 facility being built at an industrial site in North Jersey to be used as a last mile delivery center.
Lincoln Equities Group has secured $ 115 million in bespoke industrial construction financing for the facility, which is expected to be ready in early 2022.
Located at the Highland Cross industrial site in Rutherford, the state-of-the-art last mile distribution center will create hundreds of jobs in the region.
The property will include loading docks, over 70 high dock doors and over 80 trailer parks.
“We are delighted that Amazon has chosen our Rutherford location for its latest delivery center,” said LEG President Joel Bergstein. “We have been working with Rutherford for 20 years and we are delighted to see this project come to fruition and create a rating for the borough. It was this administration that supported the industry’s vision.
Highland Cross is located at the intersection of the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) and routes 3 and 17.
The facility provides convenient access to New York City, the Port of NY / NJ, and 18 million consumers within an hour’s drive.
Earlier this year, LEG announced that UPS would lease the company’s waterfront facility from Lincoln Logistics Bayonne. The regional hub and distribution center is under construction on the site of the former Bayonne military maritime terminal (MOTBY).
Just north of Port Terminal Boulevard, the 880,000 square foot building will bring more than 1,000 jobs to MOTBY.
This year, LEG also sold its Lincoln Logistics site in Hicksville – located on 10 acres at 344 Duffy Ave., and fully occupied by Home Depot.
The brand new 195,610 square foot warehouse was completed in December 2020. It serves as a distribution operation in the Home Depot market on Long Island – and features 36 foot clear heights, 50 by 54 column spacing. feet wide, 29 platform-height doors, two entry doors and 4,185 square feet of office space.
LEG’s Highland Cross project was designed by Ford & Associates. Construction is carried out by RC Andersen LLC.

LEG was appointed by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) and the Borough of Rutherford as the redeveloper of this 30-acre brownfield site in 1998.
In collaboration with the State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), LEG developed and implemented a five-year Corrective Action Plan (RAWP) and completed an area mitigation program wet.
