Uniform Wilt chamberlain rocked in his rookie season ’59 -’60 DOMINANT is about to hit a sports memorabilia stock market … but don’t worry if you’re not rich because you don’t need to ‘a milli to the bank to own a piece of the wires.
It’s a new way for people to own a piece of history without breaking the bank – with the same kinds of risks and rewards as buying stocks.
Here’s the deal … the person who currently wears the Chamberlain uniform is David Kohler, who runs the very successful SCP auctions company specializing in high value collectibles.
Kohler tells TMZ Sports … Wilt has shaken things up for every home game during his rookie season with the Philadelphia Warriors.
The items were authenticated by the well-respected MEARS appraisal company and the photo was matched by the folks at MeiGray Authentication, Kohler says.
Kohler has owned the coin for years and decided now is the time to sell – so he teamed up with the app. To collect to succeed.
The Chamberlain uniform will hit the market on Tuesday – with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) backed by the Security and Exchange Commission.
We’re told there will be 95,620 stocks available for purchase at $ 10 a pop – and from there you can monitor value as you would a typical stock.
Kohler says he’s keeping 25% of the jersey – which would bring the item’s value to $ 1.275 million.
Collectors can buy as many shares as they want … and resell them (hopefully) on the Collectable app.
Chamberlain – who won rookie of the year – averages nearly 38 points and 27 rebounds per game. No, not a typo … the man was on average 38 and 27 years old as a ROOKIE … in what is possibly the biggest first season in hoops history.
Blocked shots weren’t being calculated at that time … but you can bet Wilt’s blocked shots by night would have been nonsense as well.
Kohler tells us he thinks the Chamberlain uniform is one of the most coveted in the history of the sport.
âThis is one of the best uniforms worn by the games known in the basketball memorabilia industry. His rookie uniform, backed by photographic documentation unprecedented for his time, not only ranks as one one of the best basketball uniforms in the world, but also one of the best uniforms in any sport, period. “
Wilt went on to have an absolutely remarkable career … making 13 All-Star teams and winning 4 league MVPs before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
Good luck!!
